Thoughts
I have a mole on my inner right arm – just at the elbow. One day I noticed it was bleeding and wasn’t sure if I’d caught if off something or what, so I went to the GP to get it looked at (after some encouragement from the twitterverse). GP looked at it and suggest it might be easiest to have it removed and to then be able to forget about it. This seemed logical to me so the necessary paperwork was put in place and an appointment made for the hospital on Baggot St.
So headed along there today, waited for a bit (thank you Streets of Rage on my new netbook for keeping me sane) and went in to see the Dermatologist.
My GP warned me about Dr Dupont saying he’s kinda gruff, but very good at what he does. He struck me as being a no-nonsense sort of man who, like me, will throw in technical (well, medical in his case) terms into his conversation and figures you either know what it means or will ask (but I got the impression he would make a point of making a big sigh if he had to explain). Some people would think of this as rude, I don’t. Here’s an expert in his field trying to get through the day the same as the rest of us and who’s probably seeing similar things day after day that might well be avoided by a little bit of education. After a brief exam of the mole itself and some history I was asked to strip and an all over search was carried out. It’s weird having an old man with a magnifying lens looking over all your bumps and spots
But he declared everything ok and that the mole on my arm shouldn’t be a concern and that he didn’t see the need to remove it. There’s almost no sun exposure on it anyway and any time I’m in sun-light, I have factor 50 on so he said to carry on like that and all would be well.
So off I went and bumped into a college friend in Burger King and had a chat before he headed back to work. I finished my own burger and made the trek back to Golden Lane and into Boards HQ.

J-Cloth,
Music
I’m in a band called J-Cloth, may or may not have mentioned that somewhere along the line
Last week we got delivery of a few important items and so we got them set up this week. I’m really chuffed at how it’s all worked out. Behold, a picture of the Bat Mixing Desk, the Bat Recording Desk, the Bat Recording Computer and the Bat Speakers.

Musics are processed and messed about with here.
Naturally, this being my blog, I should put a pic of my own gear up, so here it is:

Axes, Amp, FX and Mic.
From Left to right: Harvey Benton 7-String (standard BEADGbe) tuning, Godin SD (standard tuning), Wireless vocals mic, Boss ME 30 Guitar Effects, Marshall Valvestate 265 J-Cloth Edition + foot switch, Ibanez IC-200 “Iceman” (open A tuning). There’s also a mic on top of the amp for running it into the sound desk and a heap of plectrums, my ear plugs and a big mug of tea
Until last night, I had a 4 X 12 Marshall speaker cab too for a full-on Marshall Stack, which was awesome. However, our drummer and engineer spoke about having a monitor for the drummer to hear it all come together and so we took the cab (since I didn’t really need it for power) and have put that over in his corner. Pics to follow on that, he wasn’t there when we did it and re-arranged his kit after I put the camera away.
The only real ramaining step is to get the recording desk (smaller on on the front right of the table above) hooked into the desk and a quick introduction to Pro-Tools and the rest from Mick and we’ll be laughing! I have some solo stuff I wanna get recorded as well as proper band stuff too.
Fun times…

boards.ie
If you’ve ever wanted to know about me or what makes me tick or what animal I’d love to own most, you can find out now on my session In The Noc Light on the Nocturnal Forum.
The general idea is that we pick a regular on the forum and allow them to be subjected to a battery of questions from everyone else in an effort to get to know each other better. It’s been oft times interesting and very revealing whilst at the same time quite amazing at how much people are willing to share and be let known about themselves.
Personally, I’m not posting anything I haven’t posted before elsewhere or that I’m not afraid to talk about publically. So feel free to ask a question (boards.ie account required) if you like
